Super Why on pbskids.org is an interactive reading adventure program that is designed to provide children ages three to six with the essential shills they need for reading. The Super Why’s creative renditions of traditional fairy tales also encourage kids to use their imagination and interpretive skills through the interactive format of the program. Alpha Pig (Alphabet Power), Wonder Red (Word Power), Princess Presto (Spelling Power), and Super Why (Power to Read) are literacy powered super heroes that work together with children through story adventures.

The site provides key skills in letter identification, word decoding, phonemic awareness and phonics and reading comprehension. In each episode, the Super Readers experience a preschool-related problem, they fly into the book to find the answer and apply what was learned to resolve the problem.

Kaboose.com is an educational site that offers free online elementary games for kids as well as printable activities, colouring and craft that will help kids get ready for school. The site aids in a child’s cognitive development as well as providing a variety of methods to reinforce important skills for early learning.

The preschool section is designed for children 2 to 6 years of age, it provides a variety of activities that caters for all aspect of learning. One example is the software Amazing Animals where the child can interacte with the animated animals in finding their habitats or choose to print and colour an animal of their choice.

Kaboose provides parents and teachers with an opportunity to create an all-rounded child. A fun-packed assortment of media including Math, Reading, Science and Geography is provided by this magnificent site.

'ABCs Let’s get ready to read’

Starfall.com is an educational site that provides various activities that are geared at the development of English language in children from preschool, kindergarten, lower school and those with special educational needs. One of the educational software provided is entitled: ‘ABCs Let’s get ready to read’ has a kid-friendly navigation system that focuses on each letter of the alphabet and the letter-sound. It provides sign language for children who are hearing impaired, and printouts for parents and teacher to assist in the handwriting process. It is a continuous program that goes into depth with letter combination, introduces both the letter that are consonants as well as the vowels of the alphabet. The lesson plans motivate kindergarten children by creating an atmosphere of fun and enthusiasm, providing opportunities for child-directed instruction and facilitating the needs of struggling readers learning alongside their peers.
